CommVault and McAfee deliver integrated data/security management solutions
JOHANNESBURG – August 18, 2009 – The dedicated CommVault and McAfee division’s at Workgroup have announced the availability of integrated data and security management features utilising the two companies respective data management, backup and security solutions.
The two companies have aligned for the first time to offer customers integrated enterprise solutions that manage security beyond the endpoint to include data and network protection, says Stephen Moore, CommVault product manager at Workgroup.
“These integrated features are also designed to help reduce costs and improve threat protection and compliance management,” he adds.
Andrea van der Westhuizen, McAfee product manager at Workgroup concurs saying that, with the availability of the compatible McAfee/CommVault solutions, end users can now more easily manage security risk and data backup, recovery and archive from a single console to provide customers with faster and more concise decision making about data integrity, security and protection status.
“The integration between CommVault Simpana and McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) provides customers with actionable information regarding the status of protected data management by CommVault Simpana software,” she says. “Using a built-in connector from CommVault, event information related to backup status can be shared within a customer ePO dashboard to synthesise reporting efficiencies and provide ease of use to administrators when monitoring multiple systems at the same time.”
Additionally, under the new worldwide sales teaming agreement, both companies will align their respective sales teams to capitalise on the market opportunity, where data management, data protection and security purchasing decisions converge, says Moore.
“The agreement is designed to help synergise efforts in existing and new customer opportunities where there is demand for integrated data protection and security solutions,” he adds.
This announcement reinforces the ongoing commitment of both companies to provide customers with solutions that address both security risk and data protection. The integrated solution will not only help to reduce the complexity in customers’ IT environments but also serve to improve protection and lower the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
